THE ARMY AND NAVY CLUB

Welcome to The Army and Navy Club! The Club has been a prestigious home away from home for the most illustrious names in America’s military and political history. So that you may fully enjoy your time at the Club, please make note of the following House Rules and information.

KEY HOUSE RULES

Attire in the Clubhouse

Business attire (jackets, dress trousers, collared shirt (tucked-in) or turtleneck for gentlemen and comparable attire for ladies) is the minimum expected at all times throughout the Clubhouse except as listed below.

Neckties are required in the Main Dining Room for Dinner and Evening Buffet.

Business Casual attire appropriate for the season, (for example, casual dress trousers; appropriate sweaters; collared shirts for gentlemen and comparable attire for ladies) is permitted in the Eagle Grill as well as the lobby during the brief period it takes an individual to register for or check out from an overnight room in the Clubhouse and while proceeding to or from one’s room.

Prohibited Attire

  • Athleticwear unless traveling directly to or from the athletic facilities or hotel room.
  • Jeans and denim apparel of any kind.
  • Shorts, T-shirts, tank tops, men’s sleeveless shirts, shirts without a collar, or cargo pants.
  • Men’s shoes worn without crew-length socks.
  • Frayed, soiled, or torn clothing.
  • Clothing that exposes undergarments, bare midriffs or is excessively revealing.
  • Clothing and personal effects with offensive, derogatory, or profane language or images.
  • Gentlemen are not allowed to wear hats, caps, or head coverings unless required for religious purposes.
The Club will provide reasonable accommodation to non-conforming attire for medical reasons (e.g. tennis shoes for foot surgery).

Members are responsible for ensuring that their guests follow the dress code and that children’s attire is equally presentable. Minors 14 years of age or older should conform to adult attire requirements.

The Club reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the appropriateness of attire.

Additional House Rules

Silent, handheld electronic devices (including tablets) may be used discreetly throughout the Clubhouse.

Members and guests must restrict phone or other voicedevice conversations only to the main lobby, phone booth, the second floor Parade, hallways, the business center in the Library and private event reserved rooms provided this does not disturb others’ use of these spaces.

Taking photos of or recording anyone in the Clubhouse without their consent is strictly prohibited.

There are a limited number of Valets and space in the drive way, so members and guests arriving when there is a significant backlog are encouraged to find own parking at the nearby garages. Private events scheduled earlier than 6:00 pm may not be provided Valet service. Guests may be directed to self-park in the neighboring garage.

Valets are instructed not to park vehicles exceeding a height of 6 feet 5 inches due to height restrictions in the neighboring garage used by the Club. Those vehicles must be self-parked.

Coats, luggage, shopping, and other bags should be left in the coat room for temporary storage. Briefcases, small handbags and laptop cases may be carried in the Clubhouse. The intent is to not clutter public areas.

Only trained service animals are allowed on Club premises. Emotional support animals are not allowed on Club property. Additional cleaning fees may be charged, as necessary.
